Kiribati Rugby started January 2020 with a clean slate taking over from the K.N.T.A. with a “New Executive”, “New Name” and “New Constitution”. “Kiribati Rugby Football Union” or simply “Kiribati Rugby” was officially recognized by Kiribati National Olympic Committee at their 2020 AGM.
2020 was a successful year with a lot of firsts. With an increase from 2 strong clubs in Betio to a Tarawa combination of 7 Clubs and 12 primary schools by the end of the year. Clubs doubling in the first three months of 2021 and the addition of Tarawa Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools with boys and girls tournament starting in April.
